32 Weeks and Having Contractions

I'm 32 weeks and having contractions. Does this mean my baby will come early?

Answer:

There's a good chance you're just experiencing what are called Braxton-Hicks contractions. These are "practice" contractions that your uterus has to get ready for labor. They help your entire body prepare and they're a good chance to practice your birth skills.

If the contractions are "real" contractions they won't go away if you change what you're doing. Braxton-Hicks contractions will stop if you're lying still and get up and start moving. If you're moving then sit down and relax for a bit. If the contractions stop, they're probably Braxton-Hicks.

If they don't stop and seem to get stronger and closer together you should call your care provider. If you're worried at all, call your care provider.

Chances are they're just Braxton-Hicks and a sign your body is starting to get ready to birth your baby :)
