Tiger Lily, Issue #010 -- Big News At Natural Birth and Baby Care!
April 16, 2008

From the Editor:

Well I'll admit I completely forgot Tiger Lily last month!! I had so much going on. I'll share the exciting things going on with Natural Birth and Baby Care .com further on in the newsletter.

For me personally things were quite crazy. Of course there was still unpacking to do from our move. And we had our downstairs floors replaced mid-month. The old floors were in horrible, horrible condition. The new floors look great and the flooring crew even fixed our vents. The vent covers didn't fit properly and I was worried that someone would get hurt, especially a crawling baby.

Speaking of babies - I'm thinking about them in our house because we'll have a new baby joining the family in late fall! Of course baby won't be crawling for awhile after that. But another reason I've been lying low is that first-trimester fatigue and feeling queasy.

We are very excited about the new baby and I am super, super excited to be able to go through a pregnancy while running NBBC. I hope your new season has had as wonderful a start as mine (though not so tiring!) and you enjoy Tiger Lily this month!

My feature this month is the addition of a blog to NBBC! You can access it from the navigation menu on any page of the site - or go directly to it at http://blog.naturalbirthandbabycare.com.

I started the blog to record my new pregnancy from when we first started trying to conceive. We were very blessed and got pregnant in the first month. But you can read about our "two week wait" and my first trimester thus far in the blog.

You'll notice that the look of the blog and the look of the site are a bit different right now because I plan to redesign both this summer when I'm not so busy with things going on with the children! And when the first trimester fatigue isn't so strong ;)

Product Reviews

I wanted to highlight Ovusoft again - I firmly believe one of the reasons we conceived our new baby so quickly is this product. I'd been charting my cycles for over a year and had a chance to really get to know my body and my signals and the software helped me keep track of everything - and pinpointed the best time for us to try and get pregnant.

You can take a peek at my successful pregnancy chart as well! I had to take 5 pregnancy tests before I believed it!

Book Reviews

I've reviewed a new book this month that I think is excellent! If you've been wondering what book to get the Dad-to-Be look no further than The Baby Bonding Book for Dads. I'll let you read the review for more information on it - you won't be disappointed!

As I have begun getting all my pregnancy books out for myself I again found I was appreciating the week-by-week guide and practical advice of Great Expectations. If you're looking for something a bit more positive and not so focused on pregnancy complications as other "pregnancy guides" on the market, take a look at Great Expectations.

Featured Recipe

One thing I have been doing this month is trying a lot of new recipes! Crock pot and quick meal recipes have been a lifesaver for me. I've been feeling my worst in the afternoons and the thought of tackling the kitchen has been stomach-churning.

The problem is, just like you, I'm concerned about nutrition. I want the children to be eating well, and I want to be eating very well since I'm pregnant! My solution has been an excellent resource I recommended in the February Tiger Lily.

KerryAnn's Cooking Traditional Foods menu mailers have been an absolute blessing to me. I picked up both her crock-pot meals menu plan and her "quick" menu plan (30 min from start to table!) and the meals have been amazing. Food that is REALLY good for us, and so quick and easy to make I can handle it even while I feel sick. My husband has also been able to easily follow the "quick" menus on nights I felt too sick to cook.

Did I mention KerryAnn already has the shopping list planned out for you too? Quick meals, shopping lists, and complete preparation instructions. KerryAnn is one mother who knows what kind of practical information you need as a busy mother or mother-to-be!

The menu plans gave me confidence that I could care for my family even with early pregnancy symptoms, and gave me the peace of mind I needed - I know my family is eating good food, healthy food, and my new baby is being nourished!

Enjoy KerryAnn's wonderful menus!
