Tiger Lily, Issue #003 -- Understanding Baby Sleep, How is Your Pregnancy Weight Gain? August 08, 2006 |
| From the Editor: Submit a Question/Comment This month has been a big month on the website and in my family's life. I've spent some of my time making big revisions to Natural Birth and Baby Care.com and I'm pleased with the results! I still have some more work to do, but I am trying to break some of the longer pages up and make it more user friendly. I want you to find what you're looking for quickly and easily. I've been thinking about doing some short videos for the site on topics such as swaddling or babywearing. Is there something related to pregnancy, birth, or baby care that you'd like to see a short video on? Please contact me! -------------------------------------------- My work has gotten about a week behind because my youngest child and I were involved in a car accident. As you remember from last month, my little Brennan is 13 months old and has just turned into a toddler. Our car accident was a serious head-on collision when a truck tried to cross the street in front of my mother's car. I'm very bruised and in pain, but nothing is broken, and my mother is fine, though also very bruised. Brennan was perfectly protected in his rear-facing car seat. I felt strongly about the importance of car seats before the accident and even more so now. My little one toddled across the ER with only a minor scrape from his car seat strap. Look for an article on car seats to be featured in next month's Tiger Lily. The car accident also reminded me how grateful I am for breastfeeding. World Breastfeeding Week is from August 1-7th and women across the world will celebrate the joy of giving their babies their own milk. I was so happy I could soothe the fear Brennan felt at the accident scene by nursing him, and then again in the ER. My milk was able to help him fall back into a peaceful rest when he slept fitfully in the nights after the accident. I cannot know what's going through his mind, but I know that my milk and my breast can naturally soothe his fears. Enjoy the rest of the summer and be sure your little one is strapped into the carseat as you do your holiday traveling! Remember to *let me know what kind of video tutorials you'd like to see on NBBC! ~Kristen
