About Breast Milk in the Case of Assisted Reproduction

I am a 25 year old girl. I have no ovaries in my body, but I have uterus. My doctor said I can't

be a mother naturally. But I can have a baby via Assisted Reproduction. So I want to know can milk come in my breasts after giving birth in that case?

Answer:

Hi Punam,

Even if the embryo is fertilized in a laboratory then implanted into your uterus, your body will proceed with the pregnancy as normal once your hormones kick in. The breasts prepare for breastfeeding in response to pregnancy hormones.

Your doctor may have you take progesterone to sustain your pregnancy through the first trimester, but beyond that the placenta and the woman's body generally take over and do a very good job of nourishing the baby and preparing the body for childbirth.

Your milk should come in after the birth just as would happen if you conceived naturally.
