Deciding on baby gear is really exciting. But sorting through all the baby diaper bags out there can be overwhelming!
How do you know which one will be the right one?
I hate to tell you, but I don't think you can! I've had three kids and have been in search of the perfect diaper bag since my very first.
Baby diaper bags are a personal choice - you'll find one that works for you and your baby.
There are large ones and small ones, and of course there are those in between. You will probably want to have at least two sizes of baby diaper bags and you may want more.
Choosing Sizes
A large bag will be especially helpful at first. You'll want to bring plenty of changes of clothing for your baby and any supplies you might need. Even if you are breastfeeding your baby you'll find tons of things to fill your diaper bag. A larger size bag will also allow you to bring your own things along with your baby's. Room for diapers, wipes, and a change of clothing will probably be great. I lucked out and found the perfect medium sized bag with baby #1 ;)
You may find yourself using this bag up until your little one is a toddler. Room for snacks and a couple of toys will be appreciated. Choose a design and fabric that is rugged - your tot will probably want to tote this around from time to time.
The slimmest baby diaper bags are made to hold a diaper and maybe a wipes case. They are great for quick errands out with your baby. These diaper bags look attractive and often come in many different prints for you to choose from.
I suggest you go for function as you peruse baby diaper bags. Luckily many designer bags are being designed with innovative features that you can really use. One of the most basic and popular styles of bag is the messenger bag. Great companies like OiOi and Juicy Couture feature baby diaper bags in messenger styling.
Style and Functionality
You'll want a waterproof dirty duds sack with any of the baby diaper bags you get. If you're a cloth diapering mama this will be especially important. You might choose to add a small diaper sack to the baby diaper bags you pickout. Or you may want a bag designed especially for your cloth diapers.
