Colic
My newborn baby boys cries after feeding. How can I help him?
Answer:
It can be so stressful when babies are fussy after feeds. It may help you to know it's not uncommon for newborns to fuss after feeding. Their stomachs are very small and sometimes feeds don't sit very well.
Try burping your baby after each feed. If you're nursing, try burping after each side.
Make sure your baby is getting his feed at a good speed - not too fast. If you're nursing and your milk lets down very fast you can try pumping for a minute or two before you latch your baby on. This will get the heaviest let down into the pump, and let your baby enjoy the slightly slower flow after.
Fussy babies often like to be swaddled, especially in the newborn stage. Swaddling your baby and rocking him gently while makings "shhhh" sounds can be amazingly effective.
