I've had light blood spotting but I know it's not my period - my period ended February 11th.

I've been peeing more than I usually do and now I just have like light brown spotting, I want to know if that means I could be pregnant?

Answer:

Hi Briana,

Sometimes like spotting, or dark brown spotting ("old blood") can indicate a pregnancy. It can also just as easily not be because you're pregnant.

Just like the bleeding, frequent bathroom trips can indicate early pregnancy, or maybe they don't. Sometimes you just have to pee more - or sometimes when you're worried about being pregnant, you make yourself pee more!

If you are pregnant, it is a little early for lots of pregnancy signs. Some women do know right away, however.

If your cycles are around average, your period should be due in the next week or so.

The best thing for you to do is to test so you'll know for sure. It's possible an early detection test could tell you now - but for best results wait until your period is due.

You can get First Response Early Response tests at any drug store and they are good about picking up pregnancy early (I got a positive test 11 days after I ovulated, before my period was due).

If you do think you're pregnant, go ahead and start eating well and taking good care of yourself now. Every day means big changes for baby and good nutrition makes a huge difference for a healthy baby.

Best of luck to you!

Hey,

I had light spotting at the beginning of my pregnancy and I had to pee a lot, but the first TWO pregnancy tests I took were negative, so I suggest that you wait with pregnancy tests for at least a week.

And if it hurts when you pee you should see your doctor, 'cause if you're not pregnant, maybe you have bladder inflammation. But don't forget to tell your doctor that you might be pregnant if she/he decides that you need antibiotics, because they can hurt the baby.

I hope you get the result that you want :)
