Ella was a fussy baby when it came to dirty diapers.
After reading about ECing on Natural Birth and Baby Care, we decided to give it a try as a possible solution. The plan was just to try it for a weekend and see how we felt about it.
Ella took to it right away and we never looked back! (Although we do still use cloth diapers, so we don't have to worry if we do have a "miss").
Ella is 10 months old now and some days we only have a couple misses! (Although right now she's teething and fussy and we're missing more than usual).
Most nights she'll wake up once or twice to use the potty and will start the day out in the same diaper she went to bed in.
All my coworkers are astounded, and it has been great to use as a conversation piece to start a discussion about natural parenting. I've also gotten braver about using elimination communication in public. The most amusing recent experience was a family bathroom in the mall. The stalls were all busy and Ella had to go, so I decided just to hold Ella over the sink to go potty. She went right away. There was a mom next to me, changing her son (who was probably twice Ella's age) right next to me. I got quite the look from her!
At home, we have lots of fun with potty-time. Ella makes the most hilarious faces, talks a lot, and in general has a great time on the potty. This picture was from when she was just starting out. It's crazy to see how little she was, too small even for the potty seat!
