Face Down Fetus

I am three months and I had an ultrasound done two days ago, and the doctor told me that the fetus is face down. I was wondering if the fetus or I are in any danger, and if there will be any birth defects? I am scheduled for c-section.

Answer:

If you are only three months along and the baby is face down there's really nothing to worry about. Babies at three months are still quite small they flip, move, and float all over the place.

Your baby will probably keep moving around until around your third trimester and may even keep moving from side to side up until birth.

There's no worry of birth defects from a baby being face down when you're three months pregnant - baby probably just happened to be in that position and your doctor commented on it to you.

If you're worried about it, however, I would call your doctor and ask if he or she is concerned and why.
