How Does the Doctor Know About My Baby's Position?

by Khaled

How can my doctor tell what position my baby is in?

Answer:

Hi Khaled,

Doctors and midwives can usually tell a baby's position by feeling the baby in your abdomen. This is called palpitating and it's a good way to find out how the baby is situated.

You can also often tell what position a baby is in by where on your abdomen the baby's heartbeat can be heard.

Ultrasound scans are another way to assess baby position.
