Is it Normal for a Flat Tummy at 6 Months?

I'm 6 months pregnant and when I stand sideways or lie on my side my belly is totally big, but when I lie on my back my tummy is totally flat - like there is no baby at all in my tummy?

I'm wondering why is it so different at least there should be a little bump when I lie on my back right?

Answer:

I think this is pretty typical, actually. I've experienced the same thing in all of my pregnancies.

When you stand up your uterus/belly hang forward and away from your spine. When you lie down on your back, your uterus (and the baby) move back into that space by your spine.

It's also pretty normal not to "show" a lot at six months, especially if this is your first pregnancy.

Even when you get to your last month of pregnancy and feel huge you'll still notice that your belly looks smaller when you lie on your back. But you'll feel pretty huge regardless ;) Don't worry too much, but do talk to your doctor or midwife if you're really concerned.

Best of luck and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
