Is There Any Chance the Ultrasound Could be Wrong?

by Bushra
(Lahore Pakistan)

I have had many ultrasounds of my baby done, and the doctor said that the baby is breech and maybe she is girl, but I feel like the baby is a boy. Is it possible for the ultrasound guess to be wrong?

Answer:

Hi Bushra,

It is possible for ultrasounds guesses at gender to be wrong, especially when the baby is in a position that doesn't make it easy to see the sex organs. Sometimes baby boys "hide" their male parts from the ultrasound.

Generally, though, ultrasound guesses are pretty accurate and if you've had several your doctor may feel confident that you're having a girl.

I wouldn't rule out mother's intuition, but really the only thing that will give you a solid answer is to meet your baby on the outside!
