Liquid is Coming Out From Breast?

My wife is 15 weeks pregnant, and a liquid is coming out when her breasts are pumped? Is it harmful?

Answer:

The liquid is probably colostrum, the first "milk" produced by the breasts. Production begins during pregnancy and will continue through the first few days of your new baby's life.

Once your wife's milk comes in the colostrum production will gradually slow and your baby's feeds will change completely to milk.

It's normal for some colostrum to leak during pregnancy. There's no need to worry. There's also no need to prepare or pump the breasts before your baby's birth - your wife's milk will come in naturally after the birth. The best thing is for her to have the baby nurse early and often.

Baby will get good health from the colostrum, and your wife's milk will come in more quickly.
