Liquid Keeps Coming After Peeing

What does it mean when you go to pee then sit there for a second then more liquid flows out, after you're finished?

Answer:

Hi Stephanie,

When you're pregnant it can seem like you're always pretty "juicy."

It's actually pretty normal during pregnancy to pee, then have more come out, then more, then more - especially during late pregnancy when the baby is pretty much squishing your bladder! You'll be able to get small amounts out.

It's also normal to feel like your body is continuously producing urine and that you always have to go to the bathroom!

Your body produces a lot of vaginal fluids during pregnancy, too, and those can cause frequent damp panties and may also feel like a dripping over the toilet.

Another possibility is always amniotic fluid, if there's a leak in the bag of waters, or if your water has broken. Amniotic fluid often comes out in trickles or spurts, and sometimes unmistakable gushes.

If you think this is what it is, you can see if the fluid seems to smell sweet - amniotic fluid has a sweet scent. Or you can call your doctor or midwife and go in to have a test done for it.

Try to avoid pelvic exams or any other procedures of that nature if you're not sure if your water has broken or not.
