My Baby is Breech, What Can I Do?

by Emma K William

I am 24 years old. This is my first pregnancy and the doctors have advised that my baby is in breech position at 26 weeks. What can I do because I am now scared.

Answer:

Hi Emma,

I would first advise you to relax; 26 weeks is still early in pregnancy and there's a great chance that your baby will flip around on his or her own! Many babies don't flip until weeks 30-32.

You can encourage your baby to a head-down position by walking, swimming, and staying in a hands-and-knees position. Also avoid slumping back in chairs.

I have an article on turning your breech baby - you can get some ideas from there. But again, I don't think you need to worry yet. Just encourage your baby to be in a good position throughout your daily activities. He or she has plenty of time to turn.
