My Baby Likes Sleeping on Her Chest

My baby is sleeping on her chest - is this bad for her?

Are there any complications with sleeping on her chest?

Answer:

Hi Maria,

I'm not sure how old your baby is, so the answer depends. If she's too young to roll over, experts recommend you put her to sleep on her back.

This has proven to be the safest sleeping position for infants. If she's having trouble sleeping on her back you may want to gently work with her to develop better sleep habits, or stay close by while she's sleeping.

If she's older and can roll over, there's not much you can do to change her preferred sleeping habits. Stay close by if you worry, or try setting up a baby monitor so you can hear her.
