My Baby's Head is "Way Down"

My OBGYN said that the baby's head is way down and I'm about a finger tip; I was wondering if you know what that means?

Answer:

Hi Ruby,

Your baby's head being "way down" means your baby has settled down low into your pelvis, with his or her head pressing against your cervix. You may have also heard people say that the baby has "dropped." This usually happens around 2 weeks or so before labor for first time moms, and often just as labor is getting started for subsequent labors.

Being "a fingertip" means that your cervix has started to dilate, and it's open about a fingertip wide now. It's a good sign that your body is preparing for labor!
