Natural Birth After Two Cesareans

I have a 7 year old son and a 1 year old son, both delivered via cesarean. My partner and I are planning on having another child. I was wondering if it was possible to have a natural birth after 2 cesareans. If so what are the risks that could happen?

Having a vaginal birth after cesarean, even after two cesareans is possible. These births, called VBACs are again gaining support in the medical community after several years of needless recommendation that "once a cesarean, always a cesarean."

In general, if you had a horizontal incision, it's usually safe to have a trial of labor.

You should consider the reasons for your previous c-sections and if they're likely to occur again.

You also need to choose a practitioner who is supportive of VBACs.

Many women have a successful VBAC at home (often called an "HBAC") - if you're interested in this, seek a midwife who is experienced with VBACs and can give you advice and guidance throughout your pregnancy.
