Positive Pregnancy Test but Doctor Says I'm Not Pregnant?

by Wedahi
(Yemen)

My pregnancy test was positive, but after 8 weeks 1 day I went to my doctor - she did an ultrasound and said nothing is in my uterus, but the endometrium is thick. Am I pregnant or not?

I've been trying for kid for the last 2 and half years. Prior to 6 months ago my period was delayed 8, 12, sometimes 15 or 16 days. After some treatment for the last 6 months my period is regular, but last month I missed my period. That's why I'm thinking I'm pregnant.

I'm feeling tired and I feel some changes in my breasts.

Hi Wedahi,

It's rare to have a false-positive on a pregnancy test - usually they are right. But it may be possible that you miscarried.

Have you taken a pregnancy test since your ultrasound to see what it says? Did you ask your doctor for a blood test? This may help you figure out what's going on.

Sometimes ultrasound machines won't pick up an early pregnancy, and sometimes they will miss a heartbeat even after they're "supposed" to be able to see it.

I would take another pregnancy test - if it is positive, you are most likely pregnant. You can ask your doctor to do another ultrasound if you'd like, or wait until you're farther along.

Best of luck to you!
