Ultrasound Query

by Raylene
(Scarborough . W.A . Australia)

I recently went for my 20 week ultrasound. My baby was lying on its stomach with its legs

tucked in. I was unable to see much except the spine and the heart beating. Is this normal
for the baby to be positioned like this?

Answer:

Hi Raylene,

Your baby is still pretty small - at 20 weeks it's normal for babies to be in pretty much any position.

He or she will still be doing a bit of moving and flipping in your womb. Most babies start to settle into position around 30 weeks or so - and some babies take even longer.

But at 20 weeks it's normal for a baby to be in the position yours is in, or in almost any position!
