I went to a clinic on December 6 and found out I'm 7 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I had no idea I was pregnant, so to start off I'm really scared. On November 1st I had an X-ray done on my belly. They took 2 or 3 x rays. I had no idea whatsoever that I could be pregnant. I was wondering (since I wasn't too far along when i took the x-rays) if my baby will be fine or if there'll be something wrong with it? This is my first baby and I want nothing more than for it to be healthy 100%.
My other concern is about the prenatal pills. I am not good at swallowing pills at all so I asked a nurse if there were chewable prenatals and she told me to look into it, and I ended up finding some and decided to buy them. I don't know if they're the right kind. So if you wouldn't mind, do you know of any really good chewable prenatals? If so would you please let me know the exact name and where I can can buy them? Thank you so much for your time.
Answer:
Most of the time babies are fine, even after x-ray exposure or other situations that may be tough for a baby.
Your baby was probably conceived right around the time you had the x-ray done, so I would definitely let your doctor or midwife know. You can go ahead and opt for a couple of ultrasounds which can show if your baby is developing normally and help you prepare if there is something going on. Babies are pretty resilient, even in the womb!
As far as prenatal vitamins go, many women who have trouble getting a prenatal down find that they can take a children's chewable vitamin instead of a prenatal. I know that some women take Flintstones children's vitamins.
Vitafusion makes a chewable "gummy" prenatal that you may be able to take with no problems. Rainbow Light makes the Prenatal Petite
, which is not a chewable, but the tablets are very small. You may be able to swallow those if you can't get a chewable for some reason.
Good luck for you and for your baby.
