How Can I Heal Pelvic Tissues After Birth?

I had some trauma to my pelvic tissues during my baby's birth. What's the best way to help them heal?

Answer:

I found after my first three births, where I had some small abrasions, that the best thing for healing was an herbal sitz bath.

I prepared my herbs in a pot on the stove then poured them into a warm bath that came about up to my hips when I was sitting in it. I just soaked like that for about 15 minutes, then rinsed off.

I did that every day for several days and it really helped a lot.

Other things that can help are using a peri-bottle to squirt warm water to rinse after you use the bathroom, or to fill it with a little of the herbal sitz bath.

I recommend the WishGarden Afterbirth Sitz bath.

Earth Mama Angel Baby also makes a couple of products good for helping heal after birth. The New Mama Bottom Spray and Earth Mama Bottom Balm are both made to help gently and naturally speed healing.

A final thing that will help is air and sunlight. If you have a window that doesn't face a public area, lay in front of the window so the sunlight can reach your damaged tissues. It works amazingly well. Some women say that shining a lamp can help too, but sunlight is the most dependable.

Good luck to you and sending thoughts for a fast healing!
