Motherhood and surrender (not a popular topic…)

Surrender is never really a popular option, but I've discovered that in surrender there is power – at least when it comes to mothering.

I was blessed to assist at a birth last night where a mama realized the power in surrender.  Her birthing was moving very quickly and there was a lot of intensity and energy in the room – and moving through her body.

She had affirmations posted on the wall, and the senior midwife and I started speaking her affirmations out loud for her – and she started repeating them.  It was amazing to see the impact of that, the channeling of her own energy and the peace she brought into her body by speaking those words.

She spoke words of affirmation, and surrender to the process, and birthed her baby beautifully.

It is like that with so much of motherhood.  Realizing this is an intense time of life and there are routines, rhythms, and energy (oh so much youthful energy!) that can carry us away is essential…

…and it's equally essential to know that if you surrender to that intensity, those needs, and that you have been blessed with this calling, that you will find the strength to do this.

I like to say you will find that you are enough… that you are more than enough…

You can do this, on every level, and at every stage.

Do you need to surrender in some aspect of your mothering?

Think it over 🙂
