BBL 022: Avoiding Induction and Preventing Fatigue During Labor

Alarming numbers of mothers are being induced today. Many of the moms contacting me have had two or three babies – and have never gone into labor naturally! Other moms share a related concern: maternal or uterine exhaustion during labor. How do you prevent these situations and have a safe, natural birth? I address those questions and give some observations on birth and bonding that I've made recently in this episode.

In this episode I cover:

  • The question of why animal mothers get better treatment than human mothers
  • Realistic expectations for your due date
  • Why you should avoid induction – even with herbs, castor oil, and other “natural” methods
  • Exact steps to take during pregnancy to be sure you go into labor all on your own
  • Which old wive's tales you should skip (and which ones to try)
  • How to avoid “maternal exhaustion” or “tired uterus” during labor
