Colton and Brendon’s Birth

by Lisa, USA

When I found out I was pregnant, my 2nd son was only 3 months old. Then at my first ultrasound, I found out I was having twins! I was shocked! My older boy was only 3 at the time.

Everything went fine throughout my whole pregnancy; I was placed on bed rest at 28 weeks and was in and out of the hospital for weeks after.

I was planning to have a natural birth, with the possibility of getting an epidural. My 2 previous births were pretty quick and non eventful, except for the amazing births of my beautiful sons that is! My Dr.s were wanting me to have a c-section because I was on blood thinners at the time from a blood clot I had with my 1st son, but I was against it.

We were taping to be on a Baby Story so luckily we had a camera when I went into labor at 5am Saturday. We taped ourselves calling the Dr. and getting the boys ready to drop off with my mother-in-law. All of a sudden I started getting the urge to push (which I never understood when I heard woman talk about… how could you not stop yourself from pushing?) and less than 20 mins later Colton was born. We had called 911 but while we were waiting, my husband suctioned his nose to get him to cry and the paramedics arrived 3-4 mins later. They continued to suction, and let my husband cut the cord. Then they took us to the hospital where I would deliver the second twin, Brendon, nearly one hour later. He came out breech, and luckily I didn't have to get a c-section! Everything ended very happily and although my twins were born at 35 weeks they weighed in at 6.5 and 5.13. Pretty good!
