Using Big Balls in Labor (or Why You Need a Birth Ball)

Birth balls are one of the best tools you can have around – during pregnancy and childbirth (and even postpartum). They can help:

  • Prevent/Resolve back pain in pregnancy
  • Encourage good posture
  • Encourage your baby into an ideal birthing position
  • Position baby well during labor
  • Help you create massive room in your pelvis (even in a small home or hospital room)
  • Support your tissues during labor (and postpartum)
  • Provide a gentle bouncing surface to soothe your baby
  • Give your baby gentle “tummy time” stimulation

And much more!  If you didn't know, a “birth ball” is actually just an exercise ball elevated to the status of excellent pregnancy, birth, and baby tool 😉  I've talked about birth balls on the podcast – one of my favorite birth hacks: A Birth Hack for Home, Hospital, and Everything In Between.  If you're interested in using a birth ball to enhance your baby's development, listen to my interview with Rachel from Can Do Kiddo!
